摘要: The stability of Tetrahymena pyriformis cytoplasmic rRNAs and nuclear rRNA precursors has been studied by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under partly completely denaturing conditions. Cytoplasmic 17-S (Mr = 0.66 X 10(6) consists a continuous polynucleotide chain throughout its lifetime, whereas the bulk 26-S 1.2m dissociates upon denaturation. Two large fragments (F1, F2) somewhat different molecular weights 0.63 0.58 small 5.8-S fragment about 50 000) are regularly observed. Some additional distinct minor (F3-F6) noted certain preparative conditions, suggestive artifactual origin. following conclusions were made from data obtained . (a) Newly synthesized molecules do not contain 'central' hidden break (separating F1 until 15 min after their appearance in cytoplasm; however, they release during denaturation and/or short-lived 7-S 75 which might represent direct precursor to rRNA. (b) immediate 1.39 releases similar size (7 S). (c) largest stable transcription product rDNA (pre-rRNA) does any break.
