摘要: Abstract Context Women with severe growth hormone (GH) deficiency have a less marked response to GH replacement than men. This has mostly been attributed the attenuating effects of oestrogen therapy. Objective To study gender related differences in treatment men and postmenopausal women. Methods Fifteen 15 age- BMI-matched women abdominal obesity (mean age: 58; range 51–64 years) were treated for one year similar doses (0.47 vs. 0.51mg/day) GH. All not receiving treatment. Insulin sensitivity was assessed using hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp body composition by computed tomography (CT) scans from total potassium, K 40 . Results Men comparable at baseline terms waist circumference, IGF-1 lipid levels. After treatment, there 18% reduction visceral adipose tissue (VAT) 5% ( P =0.0001 women). Although magnitude difference small, increased more thigh muscle mass p Conclusion Low dose reduced VAT markedly as compared As all oestrogen-deficient, this responsiveness due an antagonistic effect on peripheral action.
