摘要: The elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV) is now recognized as one of the main causes death young Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) in North American zoos. Its impact wild and domestic populations Asia not clearly understood. This article describes first case EEHV infection Lao People's Democratic Republic a 2.5-yr-old male elephant. Clinical signs pathological findings reported here are consistent with previous infections calves. Phylogenetic analyses showed 100% homology other EEHV-1A strains identified Asia, Europe, America. Contamination molecular assays was ruled out, because DNA polymerase sequence this study differed from positive control by two base pairs.
