摘要: BACKGROUND: Yeasts of the genus Candida create colonization, superficial infections and systemic in immunodeficient individuals. The presentations disease lead to necessity using various diagnostic methods treatments. OBJECTIVES: To differentiate among species, correlate them with anatomical region involved evaluate vitro susceptibility ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole amphotericin B. METHODS: An evaluation 100 cases immunocompetent patients cutaneous or mucous candidiasis attended at Santa Casa de Sao Paulo Hospital from May 1999 July 2001. This study attempted site involvement isolated CHROMagar Candida® technique. species were evaluated Etest® antifungal RESULTS: C. albicans was 76% material, krusei 19% tropicalis 1%. It not possible establish a significant correlation between area isolated. Most samples proved be susceptible antifungals tested. CONCLUSIONS: most commonly observed species. majority presented tested antifungals.
