Image-classification-based global dimming algorithm for LED backlights in LCDs

摘要: Abstract Backlight dimming can help LCDs reduce power consumption and improve CR. With fixed parameters, algorithm cannot achieve satisfied effects for all kinds of images. The paper introduces an image-classification-based global algorithm. proposed classification method especially backlight is based on luminance CR input parameters level pixel compensation are adaptive with image classifications. simulation results show that the presents 86.13% reduction improvement compared without classification, almost same display quality. prototype developed. There no perceived distortions when playing videos. practical average TV 18.72%, common dimming.
