摘要: Adjuncts to local anesthetics for brachial plexus block may enhance the quality and duration of analgesia. This study tested hypothesis that adding dexamethasone significantly prolongs ropivacaine A prospective, randomized, single blinded was conducted on 50 ASA I or II patients undergoing upper limb surgeries under supra clavicular block. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. in group R (n=25) administered 30 ml 0.5% Ropivacaine normal saline RD given 8 mg (2 ml) Dexamethasone. The onset time sensory motor blockade recorded. Hemodynamic variables (i.e., heart rate, non-invasive blood pressure oxygen saturation) rescue analgesic requirements recorded 24 hrs. postoperatively. RESULTS: Addition Dexamethasone as adjunct Ropivocaine prolonged which 9.44±0.8 hours 19.52±1.5 RD, postoperative period without much change CONCLUSION: supraclavicular analgesia is a remarkably safe cost effective method providing Rescue less compared R. confirming significant prolongation during intraoperative period. parameters did not differ between groups post-operative
