摘要: Abstract Ethnopharmacology relevance The leaves of Alpinia zerumbet is used in folk medicine Brazil to treat hypertension. However, the cardioprotective effect this plant has not been studied yet. Aim study To evaluate effects hydroalcoholic extract (AZE) against isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction rats. Material and methods Rats were pretreated orally with AZE (300 mg/kg) for 30 days prior ISO-induced infarction. rats sacrificed hearts collected homogenized biochemical analysis. At end experiment, cardiac marker enzyme levels, histological morphometric parameters, hemodynamic measurements assessed. Phytochemical compounds verified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Results administered ISO showed a significant increase enzymes, i.e., creatine kinase-NAC (CK-NAC) CK-MB. Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining exhibited an infarct areas. In animals treated induced heart rate. Pretreatment significantly inhibited these ISO. Moreover, findings supported histopathological observations. GC-MS analyses identified volatile oils, kavalactones, phytosterols. Conclusions Haemodynamic, alteration results suggest protective oral administration cardiotoxicity.
