Cardioprotective effect of Lagenaria siceraria (LS) fruit powder in isoprenalin-induced cardiotoxicity in rats

摘要: Abstract Aim of study The objective the was to evaluate cardioprotective activity Lagenaria siceraria (LS) fruit powder in isoprenalin (ISO) induced cardiotoxicity rats. Material and methods Male Wistar rats (200–230 g) were divided into four groups. Grp I: control, II: (5.25 mg/kg, s.c. on day 50th 8.5 mg/kg 51th), III: LS (500 mg/kg, p.o.) suspended gum accacia (2%) for 49 days IV: 51 days. On 0 52nd blood withdrawn by retro-orbital puncture estimation marker enzymes. Haemodynamic parameters recorded. Animals sacrificed histology vital organs performed. Results Isoprenalin showed cardiotoxicity, manifested increase heart rate serum enzyme. alone produced bradycardia. In pretreated neither increased nor hypotensive effect. histopathology myocardial damage isoprenalin, lower LS + ISO Conclusion It has been concluded that (500 mg/kg) pretreatment protects isoprenalin-induced cardiotoxicity.
