摘要: Genetic testing to identify susceptibility a variety of common complex diseases is increasingly becoming available. In this article, focusing on the development genetic for diet-related disease, I examine emergence direct-to-the-consumer services and (re)configuration healthcare provision, both within outside specialist genetics service, in UK. two key techniques these practices: empowerment facilitation. Using Foucauldian social theory, show that facilitation are being positioned as tools creation citizen-consumers who will make appropriate dietary choices, based results their analysis. Through techniques, individuals transformed into properly entrepreneurial citizens will, through judicious act maximise 'vital capital' (their health) capital body. argue user not purely an economic figure, making rational choices consumer, but her configuration citizen-consumer avails herself information proper manner ensures she fit contribute life our present.
