Catalytic enhancement of formic acid electro-oxidation through surface modifications with gold on supported Pt nanoparticles

摘要: Abstract The Formic Acid Electro-oxidation (FAEO) on Pt/Au Nanoparticles (PtAu NP) supported Hierarchical Porous Carbon (HPC), was studied by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. HPC-Pt nanoparticles were surface modified Au spontaneous deposits. morphological compositional characterization performed Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). A significant increase of the current densities for FAEO in potential region 0.1–0.75 VRHE observed HPC-PtAu catalysts. comparison electrodes results show that atoms presence Pt is a key factor to improve the catalysts performance. Based our results, clear change mechanism catalysts respect evidenced.
