摘要: A distributed virtual walkthrough environment allows users connected to the geometry server walk through a specific place of interest, without having travel physically. This interest may be museum, library or university. There are two basic approaches distribute from clients, complete replication and on-demand transmission. Although transmission approach saves waiting time optimizes network usage, many technical issues need addressed in order for system interactive. CyberWalk is web-based developed based on approach. It achieves necessary performance with multiresolution caching mechanism. First, it reduces model rendering times by employing progressive modeling technique. Second, Internet response providing prefetching Third, client continue operate, at least partially, when disconnected. The mechanism tries maintain minimum resolution object models provide coarse view objects viewer. All these features allow sufficient interactivity user over environment. In this paper, we demonstrate design implementation CyberWalk. We investigate effectiveness supporting applications numerous experiments, both simulation prototype system.
