Collapse of DNA under alternating electric fields

摘要: Recent studies have shown that double-stranded DNA can collapse in the presence of a strong electric field. Here we provide an in-depth study under weak confinement microchannels as function buffer strength, driving frequency, applied electric-field and molecule size. We find critical field at which molecules (tens kV/m) is strongly dependent on frequency (100-800 Hz) molecular size (20-160 kbp), weakly ionic strength (8-60 mM). argue apparent stretching very high fields artifact finite frame time video microscopy.
