摘要: Abstract This work reports on the oxygen reduction activity of several non-precious metal (non-PGM) catalysts for reaction (ORR) at fuel cell cathode, including pyrolyzed CoTPP, FeTPP, H2TMPP, and CoTMPP. Of studied catalysts, CoTMPP (Co-tetramethoxyphenylporphyrin) was found to perform significantly better than other materials. The catalyst underwent a thorough testing in both hydrogen–air polymer electrolyte (PEFC) direct methanol (DMFC). It that cathode can sustain currents are only 2–3 times lower those obtained with conventional Pt-black an H2–air PEFC. DMFC experiments, crossover tolerance measurements, indicate high ORR selectivity catalyst. Based results date, CoTMPP-based offers promise use mixed-reactant DMFCs operating concentrated feeds. However, life data, consisting over 800 h continuous operation, improvement long-term stability will be required make it practical.
