One size doesn't fit all: experiences of family members of Indigenous gamblers

摘要: This study explores help-seeking and help-provision by family members of Indigenous people experiencing gambling problems, a topic that previously has been ignored. Data are analysed from face-to-face interviews with 11 Australians who gamble regularly. The results confirm substantial barriers faced in accessing formal help services programs, whether for themselves or loved one. Informal friends appears more common. In this study, informal includes emotional care, practical support various forms 'tough love'. However, these measures mostly vain. Participants emphasise 'one size doesn't fit all' when it comes to avenues peoples. Efforts needed identify how families extended can best provide social assist their ones acknowledge address problems.
