摘要: Summary Objective Glucosamine is commonly used for the treatment of osteoarthritis. It available as an over counter preparation and also a prescription pharmaceutical. There concern from animal experiments that glucosamine may alter glucose metabolism through hexosamine biosynthetic pathway. The objective this systematic review to determine if exogenous adversely affects in humans. This does not separate out effects on various preparations. Method An English-language literature search MEDLINE, EMBASE EBM Reviews (1950–February 2009) was conducted. bibliographies selected papers were manually searched additional references. Two reviewers independently analyzed studies quality content using standardized data extraction form. Results Eleven included. Six randomized controlled trials remaining five prospective with or without controls. Four found decreased insulin sensitivity increased fasting subjects taking glucosamine. Three these clinical oral Studies included baseline impaired tolerance resistance more likely detect effect than such subjects. Conclusion Clinical studies, including three glucosamine, have provided mixed evidence about Therefore, are needed, particularly at high risk impairments homeostasis, before definite conclusion can be made.
