Defect-Property Correlations in Garnet Crystals. *VII: The Electrical Conductivity and Defect Structure of Yttrium Aluminum and Yttrium Iron Garnet Solid Solutions

摘要: The conduction mechanisms in yttrium aluminum and iron garnet solid solutions have been studied as a function of temperature, concentration partial pressure oxygen. At low concentrations iron, ac conductivity ionic transference measurements show the solution to be mixed ionic-electronic conductor with an mobility characterized by activation energy 2.6–2.8 eV p-type electronic 3.0–3.3 eV. High cause dramatic increase electrical connected formation Fe impurity band found lie 1.9 below band. Transport through this is via activated hopping process 0.7 for 6 fraction percent Fe. A defect model presented which consistent our experimental observations including maxima obtained at high PO2's levels.
