摘要: Abstract This work is aimed to investigate the antiproliferative and antioxidant activities of Alhagi maurorum, a legume used as natural sweetener. Diethyl ether (DE) petroleum (PE) extracts were analyzed for their chemical composition by GC–MS analysis. Both extract further investigated potential cytotoxicity against panel human cancer cell lines sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. DE extract, characterized fatty acids coumarins main constituents, showed strongest activity C32 melanoma line with an IC50 value 2.7 μg/ml. For investigation different in vitro systems, namely 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS*+), μ-carotene bleaching test, ferric reducing ability power assay (FRAP) Fe-chelating employed. highest radical scavenging ABTS 4.7 μg/ml. was also able reduce metal transition ion iron FRAP 69.6 μM Fe(II)/g that comparable positive control butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) (63.2 μM Fe(II)/g). These biological properties may be interest from functional point view propose alternative use this edible legume.
