Workers' Preferences among Company-Provided Health Insurance Plans

摘要: Data from four plants of a single company are used to examine differences in health plan selection 1989 among employees offered choice plans. A 10% increase the traditional fee-for-service (FFS) premium reduced fraction choosing that by 4–9 percentage points, and doubling deductible plan's market share 3–4 points. Most workers rejecting such chose high-premium prepaid plans, which offer lowest cost-sharing provisions. On other hand, attaching modest plans their points increased participation FFS plan, requires relatively high but low cost-sharing. The authors also find increases real salaries age work force boosted employee plan.
