摘要: Abstract C-protein is a thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle A bands. Its function unknown. To improve our understanding its primary structure, we undertook molecular cloning C-protein mRNA. We describe isolation and characterization cDNA clone, lambda C-86, that encodes approximately 80% fast isoform chicken. Sequence analysis insert revealed C-protein, although an intracellular, nonmembrane-associated protein, member immunoglobulin superfamily. Like several cell surface adhesion molecules belong to this superfamily, contains sequence motifs resemble domains fibronectin type III repeats. Computer searches using also lead identification related chicken smooth myosin light chain kinase have not been reported previously.
