Preparation and oxidation resistance of mullite/SiC coating for carbon materials at 1150 °C

摘要: Abstract To protect carbon materials from oxidation, mullite/SiC coatings were prepared on graphite by chemical vapor reaction (CVR) and slurry sintering. The XRD analyses show that the phase of outer-layer coating is composed SiO 2 mullite, inner-layer mainly β-SiC. anti-oxidation behavior Rockwell hardness (HRB) after oxidation investigated. test shows as-prepared multi-layer exhibits excellent thermal shock resistance at high temperature. After 1150 °C for 109 h cycling between room temperature 12 times, mass gain coated sample 0.085%. Meanwhile, indentation tests also demonstrate has good bonding ability layers.
