摘要: To solve aseptic loosening of cemented acetabular cup and tibial plateaus hips knee joint prostheses in total replacement, adhesion between the polymeric made ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) bone cement polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) has been investigated. Previous studies using xylene, PMMA, MMA monomer solution to treat bulk surfaces UHMWPE resulted 11.5 +/- 0.65 MPa as maximum interfacial strength treated cement. The present study eliminates use xylene; instead, powders were with PMMA-MMA solution, dried, then compression-molded untreated powders. tensile strengths measured best molding conditions investigated by varying temperature, pressure, time. Temperature was predominant factor when compared that pressure or 16.3 0.94 166.5 degrees C, 38.7 MPa, 1 h. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) pictures show coating nodules fibrils powder PMMA. Pulled out aggregated nodular space coated PMMA after fracture could be seen easily from powder.
