摘要: Using survey data obtained from 309 women working in street-level prostitution Phoenix, Arizona, this investigation examines the influence of minority status, educational level, and experience risk factors an individual’s childhood or adolescence on hazard rate for age entry into prostitution. Findings study show that engaging have limited backgrounds often do not complete high school. Results indicate both white experienced rates physical sexual abuse childhood, as well parental substance abuse. When compared to women, are more likely any one these three thought prostitution, yet event-history analysis indicates consistently significantly higher suggest need future research better assess impact race—in form socioeconomic social disadvantages associated with status—as it relates sex trade.
