Magnetic Rotation Spectrum and Heat of Dissociation of the Potassium Molecule

摘要: The magnetic rotation spectrum of the near red, $^{1}\ensuremath{\Pi}\ensuremath{-}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}$ band system ${\mathrm{K}}_{2}$ has been photographed with apparatus previously used for ${\mathrm{Li}}_{2}$. In this way series upper vibrational levels extended from 16th, last one observed by Crane and Christy, to 27th. This permits an accurate extrapolation convergence, which is estimated occur at ${v}^{\ensuremath{'}}=31.6$, corresponding energy being 17160 ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ = 2.12 volts. It follows that heat dissociation normal molecule 0.51\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.02 volt. From other data percentage molecules in vapor various temperatures calculated. An improved Franck-Condon diagram red infrared systems constructed. gives a good representation distribution bands predicts existence edge. confirmed observation. Magnetic spectra have found regions blue $^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}\ensuremath{-}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}$ systems. They are probably analogous sodium, like it, not yet understood.
