Prevalence and quality of workplace risk assessments – Findings from a representative company survey in Germany

摘要: Abstract Although Workplace Risk Assessments (WRA) are legally required in all EU member states and widely considered to be a core element of occupational safety health (OSH) management, the state their implementation at company level is still viewed rather critically, both quantitative qualitative terms. In this study, data from representative survey (N = 6500) were used estimate frequency different patterns (and corresponding quality levels) WRA practice Germany determine organisational factors influencing chance occurence these patterns. Results show that only one out four companies carry WRAs which not meet essential procedural requirements but also take account potential risk areas fairly comprehensive manner. Multinomial logistic regression analysis further revealed size by far strongest predictor activity, especially its more developed forms. Availability specialist assistance, availability affiliation production sector, presence an employee body good economic situation each associated with activity as well. The considerable deficiencies coverage indicated study clearly call for intensification WRA-related control advisory efforts OSH authorities, primarily small private services sector. Findings suggest reinforcement worker representation structures strengthening professional expert utilisation would beneficial implementation.
