摘要: Abstract Objective To describe the design and ongoing conduct of Million Veteran Program (MVP), as an observational cohort study mega-biobank in Department Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. Study Design Setting Data are being collected from participants using questionnaires, VA electronic record, a blood sample for genomic other testing. Several projects linked to MVP, both peer-reviewed research studies activities help develop infrastructure future, broad-based uses. Results Formal planning MVP commenced 2009; protocol was approved 2010, enrollment began 2011. As August 3, 2015, with steady state ≈50 recruiting sites nationwide, N  = 397,104 veterans have been enrolled. Among  = 199,348 currently available genotyping data, most (as expected) male (92.0%) between ages 50 69 years (55.0%). On basis self-reported race, white (77.2%) African American (13.5%) populations well represented. Conclusions By helping promote future integration genetic testing delivery, including clinical decision making, is designed contribute development precision medicine.
