摘要: A new Phytophthora disease of common alder (Alnus glutinosa) similar to that previously reported in several countries Europe has been observed Hungary. Based on these earlier studies, the was considered likely be a hybrid between P cambivora and fragariae-like species: across range is spreading comprise heteroploid hybrids including ‘standard’ type other types termed ‘variants’. Phenotypic molecular features pathogen Hungary were characterised compared with isolates from elsewhere. The morphologies five one region (Heviz) resembled common, type, whereas three another (Hansag) exhibited traits those ‘variant’ types, ie Swedish ‘variant’. Molecular markers two groups Hungarian also represented good fit standard variant, respectively. Isozyme patterns profiles restriction fragments entire internal transcribed spacer (ITS) or mitochondrial DNAs RAPD-PCR products did not differ within group, but distinct polymorphisms isolates. Southern analysis random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) revealed homologous nature co-migrating bands Phytophthora. Furthermore, fragment ITS ribosomal mtDNAs consistent biparental origin status continuously evolving pathogens raises many issues challenges concerning efficient control measures. © 2003 Society Chemical Industry
