Patch antennas with switchable slots (PASS) in wireless communications: concepts, designs, and applications

摘要: This feature article describes, in a comprehensive and unified fashion, the authors' work on development of novel kinds reconfigurable microstrip antennas: patch antennas with switchable slots (PASS). PASS are versatile for wireless communication systems, their structure is very simple. introduces operational mechanism PASS, as well frequency-ratio control input impedance tuning. Various designs presented to demonstrate capability communication. These functions dual-frequency operation, dual-band circular-polarization performance, diversity only one layer single feed. A practical application future Mars rover missions also highlighted: compact, dual-band, circularly polarized antenna UHF band was designed, fabricated, measured, based concept.
