摘要: Background: A psychological assessment is critical for morbidly obese patients seeking Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) surgery. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) has been widely used in past studies of bariatric surgery patients, but, to date, there no published research on the more recent version MMPI, Inventory-2 (MMPI2), and its relation RYGBP outcome.This investigation was designed evaluate predictive validity MMPI-2 with respect outcome morbid obesity. Methods: involved a retrospective analysis scores 2 groups 1 year following RYGBP: 1) those who lost ≥ 50% their excess weight 2) F,Hysteria, Paranoia, Health Concerns scales MMPI-2, significantly lower Masculinity-femininity scale. Stepwise regression found that combination most accurate predictor model 1-year post-surgery loss. Conclusion: standard personality measure, appears be associated loss after RYGBP. Psychological traits such as anxiety excessive health concerns are likely influence surgical outcome.
