摘要: AbstractObjectivesTo explore the experiences of congenitally or early profoundly deafened candidates who receive cochlear implants as adults.MethodsEight implantees had received their adults were interviewed using a semi-structured interview technique. Interviews conducted in participant's preferred communication mode (oral/aural, Sign Supported English, British Language).ResultsAll participants reported benefit from implantation. Areas identified correspond with results similar studies post-lingually adult implantees.DiscussionCongenitally implanted report implantation following areas: identity, hearing world, and emotional wellbeing. They also commented on motivation for wanting an implant advice they would give to others considering
