摘要: The effect of melatonin (MEL) on the nephropathy and oxidative stress induced by a single high dose Adriamycin (AD) has been studied in Wistar male rats. MEL (50 μg/kg/day) was injected intraperitoneally 3 7 days, respectively, before after AD injection (20 mg/kg i.p.). Trunk blood drawn triglycerides, total cholesterol, phospholipids, high-density lipoprotein urea, creatinine, protein, lipoperoxides, reduced glutathione (GSH) levels catalase activity (CAT) were determined serum. In kidney homogenates, GSH, CAT measured as well protein urine. administration resulted hyperlipidemia high-grade proteinuria marked increase serum creatinine. kidney, lipoperoxides accompanied significant decrease GSH CAT. efficiency specially remarkable restoring CAT, to controls. These results confirm involvement free radicals pathogenesis nephrotoxicity AD. Likewise, they show antioxidative power its prevention suppression this nephropathy.
