摘要: Introduction Several neuroimaging studies have been carried out to gain insight on the pathological processes that cause PD, but literature findings are inconsistent. The aim of this study was combine information by functional imaging with DA transporter ligands and structural MRI. Methods Forty-two untreated, de novo-PD patients 30 control subjects were involved in study. Patients divided subgroups according presence uni- or bilateral reduction ligand uptake putamen, as observed single-photon emission tomography: 12 had abnormal right putamen 11 left, whereas 19 uptake. Voxel-based morphometry shape analysis used compare healthy all either left uptake. Results Shape identified significant differences between controls putaminal regions. In unilateral uptake, only medial surface structure involved. When also considered, changes extended from lateral putamina. showed similar results those detected analysis, it failed identify subfield asymmetric symmetric damage tomography. Conclusions Shape suggested a progressive medial-to-lateral involvement putamina paralleled an asymmetric-to-bilateral distribution depletion. © 2016 International Parkinson Movement Disorder Society
