摘要: There is a lack of strategic understanding the impact construction industry on natural resources and environment. The Construction Industry Mass Balance study has for first time identified quantified used, wastes emissions produced by industry. This information presented in order to encourage holistic view being taken how resource sustainability might be improved. addition stock (the built environment) 1998 been calculated as nearly 275 million tonnes UK. required over 420 material resources, which only 360 were incorporated into products. remainder was waste, mostly quarrying waste (97%). If efficiency measured terms ratio additions : required, 64%. Transport accounts 40% energy use construction. Of demolition wastes, just 50% recycled or reclaimed back Emissions air totalled 30 tonnes, 97% carbon dioxide. other are their global warming potential, this figure rises 500 tonnes. In identify all flows UK mass, some data had converted estimated. Trends influences also examined relation use, generation emissions. While processes increasingly adopting environmental improvement minimisation practices, inputs have received less attention. Coherent action across considered necessary if evolutionary change aspects process achieved.
