摘要: This Editorial highlights a study by Gibson et al. 2015 published in this issue of JNeurochem, which the authors reveal novel role for α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex (KGDHC) post-translational modification proteins. KGDHC may catalyze itself as well several other proteins succinylation lysine residues. The authors' report an enzyme responsible key mitochondrial enzymes represents major step toward our understanding functional metabolome. TCA, tricarboxylic acid; KG, α-ketoglutarate; KGDHC, complex; FUM, fumarase; MDH, malate dehydrogenase; ME, malic enzyme; GDH, glutamate AAT, aspartate aminotransferase; GS, glutamine synthetase; PAG, phosphate-activated glutaminase; SIRT3, silent information regulator 3; SIRT5, 5.
