摘要: Various modes of therapy, alone or in combination, have had little effect improving the survival patients with glioblastoma multiforme. Recently, a pilot study, 34 were treated by fast-neutron-beam irradiation whole brain. Following treatment, became steroid-dependent and pursued gradual downhill course increasing obtundation. Although there was no improvement length quality these patients, neuropathological studies 13 who came to autopsy showed following: 1) extensive coagulative necrosis much tumor mass; 2) dense infiltration collagenous connective tissue; 3) minimal phagocytic reaction; 4) marked reduction amount viable tumor; 5) abnormal astrocytic proliferation, which may represent either astrocytoma radiation-induced bizarre gliosis, 6) areas gliosis white matter degeneration brain stem, remote form site. These observations suggest that continued efforts further refine this mode therapy for are warranted.
