摘要: Stable isotopes are nowadays commonly used in the study of many key features avian ecology. However, adequate choice what isotopic ratio to consider and tissues sample for assessing specific questions may be tricky. Here, we explored variation a suite stable isotope ratios (δ 13 C, δ 15 N, 34 S, 2 H, 18 O) feathers claws chicks Lesser Kestrels Falco nau- manni from south-eastern Sicily (Italy) sampled throughout colonies same population but surrounded by different habitats. Our aims provide an insight into ecology Kestrel methodological indications future studies. Specifically, tested whether (i) were consistent between claws; (ii) differed within colo- nies; (iii) reflected differences surrounding We found that all significantly feathers. Hierarchical cluster analyses revealed high consistency elements siblings nests colony. Significant emerged among associated surround- ing habitat. The approach has great potential lesser kestrel ecology, our results suggest which element should selected set ecological questions.
