Oxidation behavior of Ti3AlC2 powders in flowing air

摘要: The oxidation behavior of Ti3AlC2 powders has been investigated in air by means simultaneous TGA-DSC, XRD, Raman spectra, SEM, EDS and BET specific surface measurement to understand the intrinsic this newly developed ternary compound. starting complete temperatures determined TGA-DSC were 400 1120 °C, respectively. These are higher than those for TiC, suggesting that is more resistant TiC. An anomalous temperature range 550–650 °C which final mass gains due isothermal at 550, 600 650 2 h significantly greater a 700 was observed. This suggests direct reaction dominated with high kinetics range, confirmed SEM morphology observation area measurement. below resulted two modifications TiO2 (anatase rutile). At above 800 products consisted rutile TiO2 α-Al2O3.
