摘要: Abstract Coals of various ranks were exposed to microwave radiation quantify the effect on grindability. Reductions up 50% relative grindability coals reported after 5 min exposure. These are believed be a combination fracture mechanisms, inherent moisture within coal structure changing phase under considerable pressure and differential expansion by gangue mineral components. The overall calorific value was minimal compares equally conventional drying techniques. Future work will include scaling pilot plant level (50–100 kg/h) allow an accurate techno-economic assessment process.
