摘要: Vascular calcification is a prominent feature of atherosclerosis. The mineral composition and quantity within calcified arterial plaques remains unelucidated; therefore, the aim this study was to analyze such plaques. Calcified were obtained from patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) carotid artery stenoses. aneurysmal during routine open repair AAAs, while collected who underwent endarterectomy (CEA). Following appropriate preparation each sample, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) used calcium phosphate levels, flame absorption (FAAS) levels iron zinc. these components evaluated. In plaques, mean concentration 9.83 11.94 wt.%, respectively, 4.31 6.08 respectively. It not possible absolute in due being below measurement limit. zinc variable between samples. conclusion, main are phosphate. concentrations present may be as reference values for further studies on vascular calcification. More required elucidate correlation
