摘要: Stress corrosion cracking is a problem of major concern in pipeline steels. This paper deals with the fracture mechanics approach to phenomenon. Paraphrasing famous sentence by Ortega y Gasset “yo soy yo mi circunstancia”, one could say that material itself and its circumstance, latter being physico-chemical mechanical environment. The analyzes situations which circumstance enhances hydrogen embrittlement. A theoretical study provided validity assisted cracking, analyzing K-dominance condition elucidate role far field effect history, recalling words Spanish poet Antonio Machado: “hoy es siempre todavia”, perhaps T. S. Eliot’s “and all always now”.
