摘要: The use of automated watering systems for providing drinking water to rodents has become commonplace in the research setting. Little is known regarding bacterial biofilm growth within piping attached racks (manifolds). purposes this project were determine whether mouse oral flora contributed aerobic component rack biofilm, quantify manifolds over 6 mo, assess our sanitation practices, and development sections manifold. By using standard methods identification, 8 strains stocks mice determined on their arrival at animal facility. Ten sampled before, during, after monthly mo. Manifolds evaluated by culture R2A trypticase soy agar, addition ATP quantification bioluminescence. In addition, 32 accessible sites evaluation distribution identified bacteria inconsistent with from manifold, suggesting that do not contribute bacteria. Bacterial increased while they service, exponential months 3 a significant decrease sanitization. was significantly different across location quartiles but levels differed between shelf pipe connecting elbow pipes.
