摘要: Programmed cell death (PCD) is a genetically controlled that regulated during development and activated in response to environmental stresses or pathogen infection. The degree of conservation PCD across kingdoms phylum not yet clear; however, whereas caspases are proteases act as key components animal apoptosis, plants have no orthologous caspase sequences their genomes. discovery plant fungi metacaspases most closely related led the hypothesis functional homologues these organisms. Arabidopsis thaliana has nine metacaspase genes, so far it unknown which members family if any involved regulation PCD. We show here metacaspase-8 (AtMC8) member gene strongly up-regulated by oxidative caused UVC, H2O2, methyl viologen. This up-regulation was dependent RCD1, mediator stress response. Recombinant cleaved after arginine, had pH optimum 8, complemented H2O2 no-death phenotype yeast knock-out. Overexpressing AtMC8 induced UVC knocking out reduced triggered protoplasts. Knock-out seeds seedlings an increased tolerance herbicide suggest part evolutionary conserved pathway stress.
