摘要: Peroxides are generated continuously in cells that consume oxygen. Among the different peroxides, hydrogen peroxide is molecule formed highest quantities. In addition, organic hydroperoxides synthesized as products of cellular metabolism. Generation and disposal peroxides a very important process human brain, because this organ 20% oxygen used by body. To prevent accumulation damage peroxide-derived radicals, brain contain efficient antioxidative defense mechanisms dispose protect against oxidative damage. Cultured have been frequently to investigate metabolism neural cells. Efficient exogenous was found for cultured astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, microglial cells, neurons. Comparison specific clearance rates revealed oligodendrocytes quicker than other cell cultures. Both catalase glutathione system contribute For glutathione-dependent reduction high concentration substantial activity peroxidase, reductase, enzymes supply NADPH required reductase reaction. This article gives an overview on involved detoxification capacity types peroxides. © 2004 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
