摘要: Abstract Background and aims Communication to patients of information about their disease has become increasingly important in modern medicine, particularly with chronic nonfatal disorders like inflammatory bowel (IBD), but the subject is not adequately researched or understood. Methods We studied media preferences for communication a multi-national community-based inception cohort European Israeli IBD 10 years follow-up, using structured questionnaires categorizing demographics, status, current preferred sources information, use electronic media, role patients' associations, satisfaction level. Results The 917 completing questionnaire were derived from northern (60%) southern (40%) countries. mean age was 48.3 years (62% under 50 years); 51% males; 67% had ulcerative colitis, 33% Crohn's disease. Sixty-six percent designated specialist as primary source 77% indicated 65% reported receiving medical treatment past year. Patient concerns new research into illness (64%), treatments (58%), risks complications (51%) genetics (42%). Preferred paper bulletin (76%), (30%) international organization (79%). Diagnosis (ulcerative colitis disease), gender, education level country impacted significantly on choices. Conclusions In providing health care individual attitudes must be considered. There should greater roles associations IBD-research organizations, an increasing media.
