摘要: The degree to which biodegradation of dissolved organic matter (DOM) depends on microbial community structure and source remains unknown. In this study, we concentrated the biomass from two streams in northern Michigan a dystrophic ‘bog’ lake Wisconsin with varying initial DOM concentration (6.7–78.8 mg C l )1 ) chemical characteristics (e.g. average molecular weights 808–1887 Da). Each three inocula was added each sources at situ population levels for total nine treatments. Changes bacterial productivity, along characteristics, were examined over 308 h. [ 3 H]-leucine incorporation method used measure production. sampling sites, communities most productive when metabolizing their native waters. A variable peak productivity seen between 16–48 h after inoculation, followed by drop treatments, periods production likely due turnover. These data suggest that are better able degrade habitats, suggesting is influenced source-specific species characteristics.
