摘要: Recreational and subsistence hunters anglers consume a wide range of species, including birds, mammals, fish shellfish, some which represent significant exposure pathways for environmental toxic agents. This study focuses on the Department Energy's (DOE's) Savannah River Site (SRS), former nuclear weapons production facility in South Carolina. The potential risk contaminant intake from consuming mourning doves (Zenaida macroura), most popular United States game bird, was examined under various scenarios. For all these scenarios we used mean tissue concentration six metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, selenium, chromium, manganese) radiocesium, collected near SRS. We also estimated to child that had maximum level. cancer slope factor Environmental Protection Agencies Uptake/Biokinetic model lead, published reference doses other metals. As result our assessments recommend management water levels contaminated reservoirs so lake bed sediments are not exposed use by gamebirds terrestrial wildlife. Particularly, measures should be taken insure hunting public does have access such site. Our data indicate areas excess suggesting banning lead shot doves, as has been done waterfowl, is desirable.
