摘要: Cephradine administered prophylactically to a group of 35 patients undergoing reversed saphenous vein femoro-popliteal bypass, iliofemoral endarterectomy or profundaplasty through groin incision, resulted in significant reduction the incidence wound infection (P = 0.025; exact probability test). One gram cephradine was given at induction anaesthesia, followed by three postoperative doses one 6 hourly intervals. The overall rate 7 days, as assessed frank purulent discharge, 15%. After prophylaxis, no infections were noted judged on this basis, but erythema suture line seen equal numbers (40% each group). Where indication for operative intervention rest pain gangrene, very much increased, 80% infected cases being from group.
