Mental health related Internet use among psychiatric patients: a cross-sectional analysis

摘要: The Internet is of great importance in today’s health sector, as most users utilize online functions for related purposes. Concerning the mental care little data exist about use psychiatric patients. It scope this current study to analyze quantity and pattern usage among Patients from all services Department Psychiatry at a university hospital were surveyed by completing 29-item questionnaire. analysis included evaluation frequencies, well group comparisons. 337 patients participated survey, whom 79.5% users. Social media was utilized less than half users: social networks (47.8%), forums (19.4%), chats (18.7%), blogs (12.3%). 70.9% used reasons. contents accessed included: information on disorders (57.8%), medication (43.7%), search (38.8%), platforms with other (19.8%) professionals (17.2%). Differences between low, medium high frequency statistically significant entities (p < 0.01), (p = 0.017) (p = 0. 048). differences depending participants’ type disorder revealed no differences, one exception. Regarding Internet’s role care, participants showed differing opinions: 36.2% believe that has or may have helped them coping their disorder, while 38.4% stated contrary. Most are Mental common patients, mainly seeking. generally frequent. varies significantly different user types shown be associated use. results illustrate contexts contribute further development offers.
