A systematic review of missed opportunities for improving tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS control in Sub-saharan Africa: what is still missed by health experts?

摘要: In sub-Saharan Africa, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis are major public health problems. 2010, 64% of the 34 million people infected with HIV were reported to be living in Africa. Only 41% eligible HIV-positive had access antiretroviral therapy (ART). Regarding tuberculosis, region 12% world's population but 26% 8.8 incident cases 254000 tuberculosis-related deaths. This paper aims review missed opportunities for improving prevention care. We conducted a systematic PubMed using terms 'missed'(Title) AND 'opportunities'(Title). included original research articles done Africa on and/or Missed care can classified into five categories: i) patient community; ii) professional; iii) facility; iv) local system; v) vertical programme (HIV/AIDS control programmes). None reviewed studies identified any related system strengthening. Opportunities that hamper where systems remain weak. What is still missing analysis experts acknowledgement strengthen also undermine Studying why these will help understand rationales behind opportunities, customize adequate strategies seize them effective diseases control.
