摘要: Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is an emerging infectious disease. Its etiological agent has been convincingly identified as a new member of family Coronaviridae (SARS-CoV). It causes serious damage to the system yet mechanism not clear. Infection-induced apoptosis or necrosis suspected but no direct evidence for this exists. To date, Vero E6 cells are only cell line that could be used replicate virus with obvious CPE (cytopathic effect) in vitro. known some viruses (including members Coronaviridae) can caused either by virus-induced (active death) (passive death). In study, we examined SARS-CoV infected cells. Indeed, results do show was induced rather than necrosis, shown typical DNA fragmentation, through existence apoptotic bodies and swollen mitochondria. This observation implications pathogenicity: does induce cultures might have same effect vivo, responsible severe system.
