摘要: Background and PurposezzIt is exceedingly difficult to differentiate benign multiple sclero sis (BMS) from relapsing-remitting sclerosis (RRMS) based on clinical characteristics, neuroimaging, cerebrospinal fluid tests. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) allows quantification of retinal structures, such as the nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, at optic disc ganglion cell (GCL) macula, a micrometer scale. It can also be used trace minor alterations progression neurodegeneration, help predict BMS, influence choice therapy. To utilize OCT detect extent changes disk macular microstructure in patients with BMS RRMS compared healthy controls (HCs), special focus related presence/absence neuritis (ON). MethodszzSpectral-domain was applied examine eyes 36 (MS), comprising 11 25 RRMS, 34 HCs. ResultszzThe RNFL GCL were significantly thinner previously affected by ON, irrespective type MS (i.e., or RRMS), than Significant thinning observed non-ON (and not BMS) Correspondingly, significant association between disease duration rates only (-0.54±0.24 -0.43±0.21 μm/year, mean± SE; p<0.05 for both), (-0.11±0.27 -0.24±0.24 μm/year). ConclusionszzThe both ON- MS, but change more pronounced ON subtype studied herein. rate less RRMS. These findings may course BMS.
